Simonsberg

A place characterised by the forces of nature, the power of water. The North Sea has Simonsberg – located in close proximity to Husum - formed as no other. Numerous storm tides during the course of the centuries left their mark in Simonsberg with the city districts of Finkhaushallig and Lundenbergsand. And also if life was sometimes uncomfortable for the inhabitants in earlier days, then they were nonetheless always loyal to their hometown. And whoever comes here knows why.

Lovely view

The view is impressive and most lovely. Countless thatched houses, encircled by green dykes. The church upon a mound somewhat off to the side of the village. The present-day Dorfstraße was once the dyke which protected the inhabitants from floods. The adjoining Wattenmeer is directly visible and a part of life.

Nature and bathing fun

Low tide and high tide. The tides determine the day. Hiking through the mud flats or bathing in the Lundenbergsand bathing area with a section of sandy beach to dig around and rollick in. And beach volleyball. Families and nature lovers will feel at home in Simonsberg. The »Westerspätinge« are a true paradise for nature enthusiasts, before all in the spring and in the fall, the world of birds can be experienced in impressive fashion. For horse lovers, a »Tracking the Ghost Rider« discovery excursion or a cosy carriage ride is recommended.

North Friesian tradition

But there is also entertainment.  Biike burning – the traditional festival of North Friesland. And probably nowhere any bigger and more beautiful than in Simonsberg. When the fire is lit on 21 February, then the flames extend far into the Friesian night sky. An impressive experience. Subsequently, people get together for a huge curly kale meal and spend a cosy evening together. The lodging offerings in Simonsberg are quite varied – certainly, there will also be suitable lodging for you because you and your loved ones will feel at home in Simonsberg.
